The Synergy Between Mosaic And Painting

A dual series where each painted composition is mirrored in mosaic material. The sequence examines how the same gesture shifts when translated from brushwork to tesserae — preserving rhythm while changing texture, weight, and light. An example of this synergy is shown below through the paired works Hope (painting & mosaic, 2023).

Hope — oil on canvas, 60 × 60 cm, 2023

Hope — glass paste with pigmented plaster on wedi board, 60 × 60 cm, 2023

Mosaic

Each work in the synergy series exists as a painting and its mosaic counterpart — the same gesture, a different material life.
